Synopsis

The light aircraft, a Piper Saratoga, piloted by John F. Kennedy Jr., crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, on July 16, 1999, amidst hazy conditions. Kennedy, along with his wife Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and sister-in-law Lauren Bessette, perished in the accident. The National Transportation Safety Board determined that the crash stemmed from spatial disorientation, ultimately attributable to pilot error.
