Synopsis
On May 26, 1991, during a flight from Bangkok, the thrust reverser on the first engine of Lauda Air Flight 004 deployed unexpectedly mid-air. The sudden action sent the aircraft spiraling out of control, and it disintegrated approximately 100 miles northwest of Bangkok. All 223 passengers and crew aboard perished in the disaster.
