Synopsis

On August 9, 2007, Air Moorea Flight 1121 crashed shortly after departing from Moorea Airport in French Polynesia. Every one of its nineteen passengers, along with the pilot, perished in the accident. The disaster stemmed from a severely worn and partially broken elevator control cable, which ultimately failed mid-flight. The cable was subjected to greater stress than it could bear, as the forces acting on the elevators shifted with the retraction of the flaps. This precarious situation was like
