Synopsis

On June 27, 1980, Air Italy Flight 870 plunged into the Tyrrhenian Sea off the coast of Ustica, Italy. All eighty-one people aboard perished in the disaster. Decades later, on January 23, 2013, Italy’s highest criminal court determined that a missile strike had caused the plane's destruction. However, the verdict remains contested; some specialists maintain that a bomb planted in the rear lavatory was the true cause. No comprehensive accident report was ever released to the public.
