On January 13, 1982, Air Florida Flight 90 departed from a snow-covered runway in Washington D.C. It stalled at an altitude of 300 feet, impacting a road bridge before plunging into the Potomac River, resulting in the deaths of all 78 people aboard. The disaster was attributed to ice accumulation on the wings and the pilots' oversight in failing to activate the engines’ anti-freeze system, which led to inaccurate engine readings.
