Synopsis

On June 30, 1956, United Airlines Flight 718 and Trans World Airlines Flight 2 collided over the Grand Canyon in Arizona. All 128 people aboard both aircraft perished in the disaster. The accident, which occurred during a period of unprecedented air travel, represented the deadliest airline crash in history up to that point, prompting significant reforms in the oversight of flight operations across the United States.
