Synopsis
On the evening of October 31, 2000, Singapore Airlines Flight 006 struck ground support equipment at Chiang Kai-shek International Airport in Taipei during takeoff. The incident occurred as the aircraft was attempting to use the incorrect runway amidst a typhoon. Tragically, eighty-three of the one hundred seventy-nine passengers and crew aboard lost their lives. Subsequent investigations determined that pilot error was the primary cause of the devastating crash.
