Synopsis

On June 1st, 2009, Air France Flight 447, en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, experienced a catastrophic stall and plunged into the Atlantic Ocean during a severe thunderstorm. All 216 passengers and 12 crew members perished in the accident. Investigation revealed that the crash resulted from inaccurate airspeed readings caused by ice obstructing the aircraft's pitot tubes, compounded by unsuitable pilot inputs and a delayed response to recovery maneuvers.
