Synopsis

On August 16, 2005, West Caribbean Airways Flight 708 stalled mid-cruise and crashed in a rural area of Venezuela during a violent thunderstorm. Subsequent investigations found no mechanical issues with the aircraft's engines. The stall, which ultimately led to the crash, stemmed from pilot error. The crew misinterpreted the situation and failed to initiate recovery procedures until it was too late.
