Maude grew worried as Walter took up pipe smoking and started wearing high-heeled shoes. She tentatively suggested he might be experiencing a late midlife transition. But what truly disturbed both her and Arthur was discovering Vivian and Walter in an embrace. This, predictably, ignited further tensions between the Findlay and Harmon families.
