Synopsis

Matlock had known Sam Spelvin since he was just six years old, so he readily agreed to offer his advice on Sam’s new play, *Lovers and Lawyers*. Regrettably, the play proved to be deeply flawed. When John Bosley Hackett, a critic who declared it among the worst productions ever conceived, turned up murdered, Sam found himself under arrest. Matlock accepted the case, postponing his fee until the play's fate was determined, and quickly uncovered several individuals with compelling reasons to wish
