Synopsis

Ben Matlock accepted the case of Vanessa Douglas, who stood accused of murdering Stephen Cassidy, a writer whose explosive memoir had shattered the aspirations of a prominent political family. As Matlock came to believe his client was, in fact, guilty of the crime she faced, he devised a strategy: to subtly shift suspicion onto her closest friend, Sarah. He knew that Vanessa would be unable to allow Sarah to shoulder the responsibility for an act she herself had committed.
