Synopsis

The semi-final round commences at Bute Hall, Glasgow University, where the competitors must present a newly developed area of expertise. The initial four participants are: Iain Campbell, a student, who will discuss *The Works of Evelyn Waugh*; Sir Peter Hayman, a former diplomat, whose presentation concerns *The Life of King George V*; Robert Wall, an engineer, who will address *The Spanish Civil War*; and Joe West, a helicopter pilot, who will examine *The Life of Horatio Nelson*.
