Synopsis

Tonight’s program features explorations of several subjects. We begin with the seafaring adventures of C.S. Forester’s Horatio Hornblower novels, followed by a look at English international rugby union from the year 1990 onward. We then turn our attention to the life and artistic output of Stanley Spencer, and conclude with an examination of English silver produced between 1478 and 1837. The program is presented by John Humphrys.
