The first round of Mastermind 1987 concludes tonight. The final spot in the semi-finals will be decided as four contestants from northern and eastern England compete at the Queen's Hall Arts Centre in Hexham, Northumberland. Jim Hollingsworth, a teacher, will face questions on the life and works of H. G. Wells. Jean Burke, a secretary, will test her knowledge of Tsar Nicholas II, 1894-1918.
