At the University of Bradford, four individuals from the North of England faced the Mastermind challenge in the sixth heat of the 1981 series. Hutton Barton, a probation officer, prepared for his specialist subject: Battle-cruisers and battleships of the period 1906-1966. Mary Ann Ebert, a civil servant, would test her knowledge of the French Wars of Religion, spanning the years 1550 to 1588.
