I can't say for certain if it measures up to other shows considered truly exceptional, but in my opinion, absolutely. I completed the series with a feeling of genuine fondness and a sense that I would miss these characters. You become invested in them, remaining captivated regardless of what unfolds. They all develop as people, experience emotions, and fully embody their roles. It’s especially evident in the final season just how much affection they have for the show themselves; they clearly enjoy it, which is something truly special to witness. The series explores a wide range of significant science fiction themes with considerable skill. Of course, there are moments that feel somewhat silly or illogical—as any long-running show will inevitably have. But honestly, who cares? You end up appreciating even those minor flaws because they contribute to the overall enjoyment and humor. Ultimately, everyone involved did an outstanding job, from the original cast to those who joined later on. This isn’t a flawless production striving for perfection; it feels like a family, and I'm glad I got to share in their journey—the highs and lows alike. I acknowledge that this is coming from a fan, so it may lack objectivity. The show earned my respect and then my affection, consistently keeping me engaged across seven years, making an impartial review nearly impossible. It was exactly what I wanted.
