The setting itself was lovely, and the actors performed admirably. The filmmakers made effective use of lighting; the red and green hues served to focus attention appropriately. A distinctive touch was the quick turning of pages used to transition into the recap segments. While watching, I perceived it as humorous rather than frightening. It's true that if the characters had acted in a sensible way, there wouldn’t be much suspense, but this still bothered me. The very dark scenes weren’t my cup of tea either; maybe it’s because I’m older and have trouble seeing or perhaps newer televisions simply display those shades more clearly. It was enjoyable enough to watch once, though I don't anticipate wanting to see another season.
