Dr. Barbara Ortega, deep in an expedition to locate a lost Spanish treasure fleet, finds herself the victim of a modern hijacking. The pirates seize the meager riches she has unearthed – most importantly, the ship’s logbook, which holds the crucial coordinates to the entire fleet – and disappear into the open sea.
