When Escalante unexpectedly announces his intention to race Pint of Plain with a novice jockey in the horse’s first outing, Ace steps forward to manage the situation. Elsewhere, Marcus contemplates the nature of his bond with Jerry. And Claire, having accepted Ace's substantial gift, accompanies him to the racetrack.
