Synopsis

Doctor Smith found himself unexpectedly appointed to lead a people not of this Earth. Unbeknownst to him, those who held positions of authority among them were regularly offered as sacrifices, swiftly supplanted by others deemed equally disposable. He was merely the latest in a succession of rulers destined for such an end.
