This series is something my father would’ve loved, and that's why I got hooked too—mostly because I grew up in a place where things just are the way they are. It’s the kind of program your dad enjoys. Similar to Walker Texas Ranger, but thankfully not all shows like that disappoint. It isn’t exactly a tiny community or located out west, but it's still small enough that you have to leave for college to discover that positions like Sheriff are actually elected, and people rarely challenge those already in office. The show has that familiar charm of a close-knit town, plus the intrigue of a murder mystery, and features cowboys versus Native Americans—though the portrayal leans heavily into traditional Western tropes. It’s a return to classic westerns, and it really works. Like most westerns, it possesses an enduring quality regardless of its setting. You've got the principled old Sheriff, the knowledgeable Native American character, and the villainous wealthy landowners—all the standard elements are present. The resolution, specifically the final episode, felt a bit stretched out, but overall, watching the entire series is worthwhile.
