The explanation behind acupuncture gets confusing, even though it’s presented in a fantastical setting; attempting to promote one viewpoint over another doesn't quite work here. It seemed like the show didn't handle the combination of different medical approaches well from a contemporary perspective. The storyline surrounding this was abandoned fairly early on and never revisited, which makes you wonder about its initial purpose. The beginning episodes were pleasant enough, avoiding obvious time-travel tropes. However, things declined significantly starting with episode 6, when they introduced a predictable element involving someone who had traveled through time. This is where the story took a noticeable turn; the pace slowed down considerably and numerous unbelievable plot devices appeared, clashing with the previously established world. While there were some early suggestions of what was to come from her grandfather and that one prisoner, it felt like those issues wouldn’t be resolved until later in the series, which proved to be accurate. Despite enjoying the initial episodes, the remainder of the show left me feeling let down.
