I’m surprised to see this show rated so highly. I only got through around twenty minutes because it felt weighed down by what appears to be a cynical promotion of American military superiority. Basically, there wasn't much that appealed to me. The series depicts the US military claiming justification for invading and controlling other countries, and portrays impoverished Americans essentially being compelled into military service as a way out of situations like domestic violence and poverty—it’s quite disheartening. The performances are adequate, and it’s obvious there was a substantial budget allocated to things like action sequences, military hardware, and the overall production value. Ultimately, this is an upsetting series that once again places American exceptionalism front and center.
