Synopsis

Beaver, beaming with pride, invited his friends Whitey and Gilbert on a lakeside picnic to witness Wally’s inaugural day as a lifeguard. He was unaware that a recent law prohibiting anyone under eighteen from holding the position had relegated Wally to working as a snack vendor. The reality of the situation – Wally in a floppy hat, hawking hot dogs instead of maintaining a dignified presence behind a lifeguard stand – filled Beaver with such embarrassment that he longed for the comfort of home,
