I find myself enjoying most episodes of John Oliver’s program, though not every single one. Because each week focuses on a distinct subject with considerable depth, my enjoyment varies depending on the specific topic at hand. There have been times when the show goes beyond simply discussing problems; I particularly liked the episode where he examined how straightforward it is to obtain tax-exempt status for a church and, as an example, they actually created their own religious organization. It was funny, educational, and any money raised went toward a charitable cause rather than funding something extravagant for a preacher. The show also includes an opening monologue that generally makes insightful observations and generates laughter, but occasionally he seems to stretch a joke beyond its usefulness; I feel like the point has been made. As with anything on HBO, there are jokes of a sexual nature present. Nevertheless, it's typically worthwhile to watch, particularly when he addresses subjects that pique my interest.
