Synopsis

A growing concern settled upon Ruth as Bessie, their cow, began to give less milk. The prospect of losing their livelihood spurred Ruth to a painful choice: to sell Bessie to the slaughterhouse and invest in a replacement. Unbeknownst to them, a neighbor's boy had been surreptitiously taking a portion of Bessie’s yield.
