Synopsis

Traveling toward the city for a fresh start after the drought, a family from the countryside pauses at the Martins' after Timmy’s prank. But when their son Billy Joe learns his parents intend to give away his cherished dog, Mitchell, he asks Timmy to keep the matter hidden. Returning to the Martins', Billy Joe and Mitchell then disappear into the woods—where deer season has just opened.
