Osman Bey and Yakup Bey hastened to Kestel, driven by the urgent need to free their children, Orhan and Mehmet, who were held captive there. The Tekfur of Kestel set a price for their return: castles in exchange. Yakup Bey readily agreed to this demand, but Osman Bey resisted, determined instead to rescue the children and seize control of Kestel.
