Synopsis

Caine found himself caught in the crosscurrents of a bitter dispute: farmers versus the agents of the railroad. He labored to persuade the farmers to accept the proffered terms of amnesty, all the while wary that the agents intended to use the offer as a snare, a deadly trap laid for those who sought peace.
