It’s like Killing Eve and Deutschland 83 got put together, but without what made those shows work well. That's essentially what Kleo is. The show never really manages to be truly appealing; it feels like an imitation of Killing Eve and Deutschland 83, which are much better. There are a lot of brief scenes with familiar faces, and the series leans heavily on 1980s nostalgia. Unfortunately, this doesn't hide the fact that there isn’t any real, well-developed storytelling. The conversations in Kleo go from being ordinary to downright silly, and the characters feel flat. Their reasons for doing things also seem shallow and mostly not worth paying attention to. Ultimately, Kleo is a good example of what's common in entertainment these days: the idea that if something looks nice on the surface, it will automatically be interesting or fun to watch. I’m giving this one a miss.
