After Amitabh Bachchan opted not to return, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan stepped in as the charismatic host for *Kaun Banega Crorepati’s* third season. Premiering on January 22nd, 2007, the new season reintroduced Prasenjit Sarkar, who had previously been eliminated partway through the second series due to Bachchan's health concerns. While the initial episodes enjoyed a strong start, viewership ultimately declined as audiences adjusted to the change in hosting personality.
