Synopsis

Jeremiah and Kurdy arrive in Mayfair to find its inhabitants dead, victims of cyanide poisoning. Proceeding to the next town, New Hope, they discover the locals exhibit a marked aversion to physical contact. The Elders enforce this prohibition with brutal efficiency, branding any transgression as "disobedience." As the people they befriend begin to vanish, Jeremiah intervenes and is subsequently detained, learning that offenders are subjected to a gruesome death by stoning. Both towns are reveal
