I recently finished watching this, and I’m really impressed. It exceeded my expectations considerably; I was expecting something fairly ordinary, but what I got was a terrific action-comedy that I couldn't stop watching, finishing all six episodes in one go. The series is both a tribute to and a parody of 80s action movies, the movie business itself, and contemporary viewers. It successfully combines these elements while maintaining balance, punctuated by well-choreographed action sequences. The show is full of outlandish concepts, sharp humor, and surprising plot twists. Several scenes took me completely by surprise with their direction, prompting genuine laughter—something that doesn’t happen often anymore. JCVD delivers a strong performance as well. It couldn't have been simple playing three distinct characters simultaneously: the famous but disheartened movie star, a covert operative, and an action hero/terrible actor. Not to mention all the other personas he portrays throughout. The supporting cast is adequate; no one stood out particularly, though it was still enjoyable. Ultimately, aspects that might normally be weaknesses actually work in favor of the series because they contribute to its satirical tone. There’s also a compelling narrative unfolding beneath the surface. It's straightforward, moves at a good pace, and is handled effectively without overshadowing the main focus—the characters—but instead develops alongside them. My only criticism would be that the fight scenes not featuring JCVD weren't very well done; they felt sluggish and obviously staged. However, these instances were infrequent enough that I can’t really fault it too much. If you appreciate classic action films, I suggest gathering some friends for a weekend viewing of Jean Claude Van Johnson.
