Synopsis

The simple wooden dolls known as kokeshi first appeared roughly two centuries ago in the hot spring towns of northeastern Japan. Initially a cherished gift for children, they subsequently captivated collectors and continue to charm a new generation. Joining us is Yosuke Jikuhara, a designer of posters and toys who has also penned a book about kokeshi. He now champions their distinctive allure. In this segment, we speak with two passionate kokeshi collectors.
