Synopsis

The year was 1944, and the Second World War raged. Amidst the conflict, a catastrophic explosion devastated the U.S. Navy's Port Chicago facility near San Francisco, claiming the lives of over 350 sailors, the majority of whom were African-American. In the aftermath of the blast, fifty sailors refused to resume their duties until assurances of safety were provided.
