Synopsis

During a test flight, Lieutenant Pendry suffers a fatal crash in his Tomcat. Major Harmonica and Lieutenant Commander Meg Corbyn are tasked with investigating the incident, and the evidence suggests pilot error rather than a mechanical failure. Though Pendry was known for his daring, Harm, drawing on his own experience flying with the lieutenant, believes his actions were not reckless to a degree. The investigation takes them to Miramar Naval Air Station, the San Diego area, and out to sea.
