The initial project resulting from **_Anne Rice_** and her son **_Christopher Rice_**(who is also an author) came about because they wanted to adapt her books into a television series after getting back control of them from Universal Studios. Some fans didn't seem to understand this, and have quickly labeled it as disrespectful Hollywood content that fails to honor the original stories. There are numerous online reviews taking that stance, but both the initial novels and their updated TV versions demonstrate how creativity can produce different versions of a story that function well in their respective formats and can coexist comfortably. They’ve since released The Mayfair Witches and Talamasca: The Secret Order, however this show remains the strongest of the three. The level of production is outstanding; the costumes, makeup, and set designs are all top-notch. What truly stands out, though, are the strong acting performances and reimagined plot details that give the original material a very new feel, eventually taking the familiar story from the books and establishing it as something unique.
