Synopsis

The proprietor of a private hospital was discovered murdered in his vehicle, the victim of a campaign of anonymous threats. Suspicion quickly settled upon a retired bookmaker, whose daughter had suffered devastating brain damage following a surgical error years prior. Morse devoted considerable effort to exploring the possibility of criminal negligence on the part of the deceased, ultimately concluding that it had occurred. Though he pursued the case with diligence, Morse appeared strangely unmo
