Lisa McGee, who created Derry Girls, has delivered an exceptionally amusing blend of comedy and thriller elements. While the crime or suspense components are adequate, what truly stood out for me was the series’ comedic power; I even found it funnier than many comedies on their own. The show is set in Ireland, encompassing Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, with scenes also taking place in London and Portugal, and features a notably talented cast primarily composed of Irish performers.
