The show appears to operate under the principle of taking a well-defined narrative that could be effectively presented within a single episode and then expanding it into a drawn-out season characterized by a lack of focus and an abundance of dullness. While House of Cards possesses promising concepts and talented performers, its potential is undermined by substandard writing and editing. The storyline would have benefited significantly from being condensed to roughly half its current length. This series, much like many other productions on Netflix, feels designed for viewers who don't demand a great deal.
