My initial reaction to "Homestead" is that it comes across as illogical and detached from reality. The narrative involves an apocalyptic scenario, yet the characters seem preoccupied with issues like personal sadness, philosophical questioning, a female character’s need to assert dominance (it's unclear why she feels compelled to do so), and predictably, toxic masculinity. Essentially, what undermines a potentially good concept is the inclusion of familiar progressive themes. I gave it a chance for only two episodes before I stopped watching. Ultimately, this series has a solid premise that’s been damaged by unnecessary attempts to address trendy social topics—things that wouldn't even register in a genuine survival situation. The final product feels both unbelievable and quite foolish.
