Yuzuki returned a lost dog, Momo, to her owner, Mioi Hatsumi. Hatsumi’s older neighbor, Shintani, attempted to display her new, costly bracelet, only to be stung by the realization that the same piece adorned Momo's collar. Driven by resentment, Shintani sought to have the apartment management evict Momo. When that proved unsuccessful, she resorted to poisoning the dog.
