Synopsis

Billy returned to Dodge, finding few who would listen to his tales or visit his friend, Festus. He possessed a mind not fully developed, and he posed a riddle to Festus, the answer to which failed to elicit the amusement Billy desired. Doc explained to Festus that Billy’s intellect resembled that of a child aged seven or eight, and that he required specialized care. Witnessing a man inflict harm upon a cat, Billy reacted impulsively, nearly resorting to violence, unaware of the impropriety of
