This series manages to be both a funny action show and a screwball comedy, with everyone seemingly trying to undermine each other. It features a vibrant group of characters that feel like they genuinely represent the India of that era. Raj and DK have developed characters reminiscent of those in *Go Goa Gone*, who bounce off one another effectively. However, similar to *Go Goa Gone*, there isn't much depth here; it’s more of a show you watch once and then remember for its cast – people like Pana Dharai Tipu or Char Cut Atmaram, who feel plucked from 80s films and arrive on screen with equal parts absurdity and intensity. The child actors deserve recognition; they were excellent, and their interactions brought back memories of my own school days. It’s a win for nostalgia, and I'll remember it fondly for its characters, dialogue, beautiful locations, and a plot that builds up to a satisfyingly explosive conclusion. Like another work by the same directors, *Go Goa Gone*, you’re mainly here for the thrills. But unlike a movie, this is a series, which ultimately holds back Raj and DK's creation because it’s hard to sustain this concept without connecting with the audience emotionally or developing a consistent thematic thread throughout the story that leads up to the finale. This show has the opposite problem of *The Fall of the House of Usher*; in that series, the messaging overshadows everything else, making the characters forgettable and failing to represent anything meaningful about corporate America. Meanwhile, *Guns & Gulaabs* is rich with atmosphere but lacks a real emotional core, placing it just below something like *One Piece*, where a vibrant cast combines with heart to create a truly unforgettable experience (though my affection for the original *One Piece* might make it difficult to judge this season fairly). I hope the second season addresses this one key issue.
