Green Acres feels surprisingly fresh even when watching it now, which means it has aged pretty well. The series centers around a lawyer and his sophisticated wife who impulsively choose to become farmers. It doesn't break the "fourth wall" in a conventional sense, but it does playfully acknowledge its own artificiality by referencing the background music. Eddie Albert carries much of the show as the grounded character, despite his unusual choice to farm while wearing formal attire—and that’s really him playing it straight. Frank Cady portraying a shop owner and occasionally Bea Benaderet acting as the proprietor of the local inn are among the few other characters who provide a sense of normalcy. Everyone else seems to exist solely for comedic effect within Hooterville. The humor ranges from physical gags to more understated moments, so there's likely something that will appeal to different tastes.
