Synopsis

Joyce DiDonato and Juan Diego Flórez star in Rossini's magnificent bel canto masterpiece, "La Donna del Lago," presented as part of the Great Performances at the Metropolitan Opera (see local listings for availability). Adapted from the novel by Sir Walter Scott, the opera features DiDonato as Elena, the enigmatic lady of the lake courted by two suitors, with Flórez as Giacomo, the noble King of Scotland. Michele Mariotti conducts a production by debuting Scottish director Paul Curran.
