Synopsis

Michael Mayer, director and Tony Award winner (known for *Spring Awakening*), marks his Metropolitan Opera debut with a fresh interpretation of Verdi’s *Rigoletto*. This production reimagines the opera's tragic narrative, transplanting its events from a dissolute 16th-century Italian court to the dazzling, yet morally compromised, landscape of 1960s Las Vegas.
