Synopsis

At twenty-eight, Gustavo Dudamel is widely regarded as the most vibrant young conductor to emerge in classical music since Leonard Bernstein. He assumes the position of Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic in the fall of 2009. This program offers insight into Dudamel, the LA Philharmonic, and composer John Adams, alongside a performance excerpt from Adams' "City Noir" and Mahler's "Symphony No. 1 in D major," all from his debut concert.
