Synopsis

Upon acquiring a hilltop site in the Berkshire Downs, Rupert and Julie resolved to construct a dwelling that would fully embrace the surrounding landscape and breathtaking vistas. They approached Roderick James, an architecture firm renowned for its modern designs and mastery of traditional timber building techniques. Collaborating with architect Hugh McGann, they conceived a house of green oak and glass, its form an uncommon cruciform.
